The best thing you can do for your employees' wellness.

80% of your employees are not physically active enough and it adversely affects your business performance. 1

So what can you do to help them?

The issue

When your inactive employees think about exercise, their heads will tend to focus on the negatives. These could range from; the time it takes to do the exercise, the commute to a local gym or class, the cost of membership and personal training to know how to use the equipment and work out effectively and sometimes even the thought of intimidation in a workout space. Those who don’t enjoy exercise or don’t do it regularly find even the thought of it hard.

Between work, home, kids, friends and hobbies, prioritising our own health can be one of the hardest things to do. We all know starting is hard and setting foundations habits up can be a challenge, and even for those of us who are more physically active, continuing to turn up and put in the work especially when we fall off the bandwagon can be really tough. For beginners, that could be getting started and for more experienced people, it could be hitting a wall in their fitness journey. 2 As a leader, you will appreciate and understand everyone has different daily routines and regimes that they follow. With the recent need for hybrid working, it’s now even harder to help your squad in the same ways as before.

What happened?

Before the pandemic struck you were able to offer your team more. For some companies they offered; an in-house workout centre, discounts to local gym memberships, free fruit in the office and vouchers to healthy eating holes. Company culture was strife with activity days, social events and in-house competitions. Your worksite was the place to be and your teams' wellbeing was easier to support. Oh, how times have changed!

Depending on your business model and requirements, we have all experienced lockdowns, business interruption and affected economies. We have had to downsize our teams, furlough staff, restructure to optimise headcount, rethink our office environment, enable new digital technologies and for many, implement hybrid or remote work models for our teams. All this change has left your employees with a daily struggle to perform, be productive, manage stress in a healthy way, and connect and collaborate in a meaningful way remotely. People feel unmotivated, overloaded, burnt out, stressed, disconnected, isolated, unproductive and making more cognitive based errors. Their mental firepower is burning low!

The mistake

We know you tried to prioritise your people and that you focused your energy on trying to implement systems and strategies to support wellbeing. You knew that you had to tick compliance and you genuinely wanted to be there to help your people. You reached out to different companies to find the best ‘wellbeing solutions’ in hopes to educate, motivate and improve your employees' wellbeing.

These solutions came in the form of; virtual coffee catch ups, free online health resources, mental wellbeing apps, and even company provided EAP sessions. However, these measures had not performed as well as you hoped and in the end, had little transparency around the return for your business or improved wellbeing the performance of your people. 3 They certainly did not address or support your people with their work performance, productivity or interpersonal relationships with colleagues.

We all need productive and performing people with a collaborative culture to run a successful business.

What can you do?

There is a way to boost the mental firepower of your people - helping them to improve their feelings of motivation, productivity, happiness, connection and performance. The key is investing in the RIGHT kind of solution which will support the physical health & wellbeing of your people.

Focusing on activating the 80% who are likely underperforming and not active enough on a daily basis, you will be able to unlock potential and performance on scale - in a meaningful way that also invests in them on an individual level and in a way that benefits their lives at work and home.

A successful solution needs three key things to create long-term sustainable change:

1: Make it easy

We need to take the hard work out of working out. The right solution needs to support your people with a guided experience that teaches them what they need to do, when they need to do it and help them to have an efficient and effective experience that is enjoyable and engaging. This means, we need something which includes the equipment, provides real-time feedback and which does the thinking for the user.

2: Make it convenient

Convenience is the key to helping people implement sustainable change in their lives. Something which can fit into their busy lifestyle and is accessible when they need it most. It needs to eliminate barriers for engagement - things like being cost effective, guided, available at home without need for commute, not intimidating to use and there when they need it.

3: Make it engaging

Incorporating elements of gamification, peer collaboration, experience immersion, variety in workout sessions and which provides real results helps to create a long term engaging experience for your people.

In summary, you need  a solution which is designed to be simple to use, engaging to experience, motivating with guided real-time support, accessible for the many, convenient and available at home, immersive and socially connecting.
